Sixth Form:
Information for prospective parents and students

You are unique, so are we!

Unfortunately, due to the restrictions currently placed on all schools because of the COVID-19 pandemic we are not able to host an in-school Open Evening for Year 11 students. I hope this is the only time we ever have to use this virtual format as we would of course far prefer the chance to see you face to face, and for you to be able to chat to our staff and students about life in the Sixth Form. From this web page you will be able to access all the information you need and through the power of video, get a small glimpse into what normal life at SJB is like. Once you have watched the video please take some time to go through the FAQs section; hopefully, this will answer any questions you may have. If not, then please contact our Sixth Form Admissions Manager Mrs Risman on n.risman@sjb.surrey.sch.uk and she will be able to help you.

Life as a Sixth Form student at SJB is exciting, challenging and enjoyable. Every student succeeds and leaves us with excellent qualifications and experiences which will last a life-time. Our results consistently exceed the national average. In 2019, 37% of all grades were A* to A with our A*-B at 72%. This puts us 25% higher than the national average. 92% of all students achieved A* to C which is just incredible.

Students also succeed in many other areas of school life, playing an active part in the school house system, performing on stage, taking part in sports events, voluntary service, retreats, foreign exchanges and trips, Wednesday afternoon enrichment activities and the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes. The Sixth Form has its own unique identity but remains an integral part of the SJB community.

We are a fully comprehensive Sixth Form Centre with the aim of providing each and every student in our care with the very best deal. Students who choose to be part of our Sixth Form are expected to have high ambitions and expectations of themselves. Although most of our GCSE students opt to remain with us we also welcome many students from other schools leading to a vibrant, strong Sixth Form community. We look forward to welcoming both current and external students for September 2021 entry.
