NCFE L2 Travel & Tourism - KS4
Students studying Travel and Tourism will gain an in-depth understanding of the nature, scale and factors affecting this globally important industry and the impacts of tourism on global destinations. They will develop the skills to critically analyse this industry and suggest ways for it to become more sustainable. Students will also develop strong interpersonal and intrapersonal skills as well as a passion for Travel and Tourism. Successful completion will increase employability in the travel and tourism sector or wider business, a route to an apprenticeship or entry to Further Education.
This is a 2 year course and is 100% coursework based. The students who take the course at GCSE are those who the school would benefit most from a more vocational subject which offers ongoing assessment. The coursework students complete comes in a range of styles including report writing, presentations, role plays, posters and fact sheets. To support the learning in the classroom students have the opportunity to visit local visitor attractions including to the local leisure centre, local town and surrounding areas. Students have been on trips such as bowling, Woking Football club, Heather Farm café and nature reserve, Mercedes Benz world and the London Eye and SEALIFE aquarium London. This course is the equivalent to a GCSE and the grades awarded are Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction*.
