Uniform

School uniform for Years 7-11 is compulsory, and we ask for the full co-operation of every parent in the maintenance of high standards in dress and appearance. Details of what is required can be found at the bottom of this page.

In addition, it is important to note the following rules apply to all students in Years 7-11:

  • School uniform must be worn on the journey to and from school each day.
  • No jewellery may be worn except for medical bracelets, watches and matching plain gold or silver stud earrings in the lower ear-lobe – no more than one per ear.
  • In line with Surrey County Council guidelines no jewellery at all may be worn during PE lessons even if it is taped up. Please ensure piercings are only done at the start of the summer holidays so that they can be removed easily.
  • Make-up and nail varnish may not be worn.
  • Nose piercings are not permitted.
  • Hair should be of a natural colour.
  • Lines shaved into students’ hair/ eyebrows are not allowed.

Please ensure your child does not wear any extremes of fashion in clothing, footwear and hairstyle as these are not permitted. Celebrating diversity is important to us and we acknowledge that certain hairstyles are an essential part of cultural, ethnic, racial, and religious identity.

We have worked hard to keep the cost of our school uniform to a minimum and have revised our uniform requirements to ensure that they are both affordable and inline with the DfE guidance for schools - there are three "branded" (school logo) items plus the SJB school tie.

It is essential that all items of clothing are clearly marked with the owner’s name, so that they can be returned quickly when mislaid. Iron-on labels and marker pen are not sufficiently secure; we strongly advise using sew in labels so that we can re-unite any lost clothing with your child!

Second Hand Uniform

Second hand uniform is available to purchase from the School Office with all proceeds supporting our fundraising to support our students in going to Lourdes on the Annual Diocesan Pilgrimage. We do often have a wide range of items in stock so please get in touch via info@sjb.surrey.sch.uk and they will be more than happy to help.

If your child has grown out of their uniform and it is still in good condition please to bring it into the school office so that we can pass it on.

If you cannot afford to buy the correct school uniform please do get in contact with the School Office; we will always endeavour to help you ensure that your child does not go without.
