Welcome to our Sixth Form
Welcome to SJB Sixth Form College
Choosing where to study after GCSEs is a hugely important decision. Sixth Form is about far more than simply choosing subjects. It is about finding a place where you will grow in confidence, discover your ambitions, form lasting friendships and prepare for the next stage of your life.
At SJB Sixth Form College, we believe that every student is unique and has their own gifts, talents and potential. As a comprehensive Catholic Sixth Form College in Woking, with approximately 320 students on roll, we are an aspirational community where every individual is known, valued and encouraged to flourish. Our aim is for every student to have the faith and confidence to believe in themselves and achieve their very best.
Academic success is supported through a broad range of A Level and vocational qualifications, delivered by expert teachers who are committed to helping students achieve their ambitions. At the same time, we recognise that education is about much more than examination results. We are proud to be a vibrant and ambitious community where students flourish academically while also developing as confident, compassionate and independent young adults.
Our Sixth Form College has a distinctive identity and atmosphere. Rooted in strong relationships, kindness and mutual respect, there is a genuine sense of belonging that makes SJB a special place to study. Students remain an important part of the wider SJB community while enjoying the increased independence and responsibility that comes with Post-16 education. They are treated as young adults and encouraged to take ownership of their learning, develop leadership skills and make the most of the many opportunities available to them.
As a Catholic College, we place great importance on pastoral care, personal development and spiritual growth. Students benefit from daily tutor time, dedicated PSHE provision and opportunities for reflection. While our Catholic ethos is central to who we are, it is not essential for students to be Catholic. We warmly welcome students of all faiths and backgrounds, asking only that they are open to and respectful of the values and opportunities that shape life at SJB.
Beyond the classroom, we offer a rich programme of enrichment activities, educational visits and extracurricular opportunities that help students develop the skills, experiences and qualities needed for success in higher education, employment and life beyond SJB. Students benefit from dedicated study facilities, a Sixth Form common room and other opportunities that reflect their status as senior members of our community.
Many of our students choose to remain at SJB after Year 11 because they value the culture, support and exceptional teaching they experience throughout their school journey. Each year we also welcome a significant number of external applicants into Year 12, who quickly become part of our community through the warmth and inclusivity of both students and staff.
We are ambitious for every student and proud of the outcomes they achieve. Whether progressing to university, degree apprenticeships or employment, students leave SJB exceptionally well prepared for their future.
Most importantly, SJB is a place where students feel valued, encouraged and inspired to become the very best version of themselves. We hope the information throughout this website gives you a flavour of who we are and what life is like at SJB Sixth Form College, and we look forward to welcoming you to our community.
